H E Ahmed bin Nasser al Mahrizi, Minister of Tourism, has issued a decision (No 75/2019) declaring three locations in Sharqiyah Sands as tourist areas. 

Article 1 of the decision states, ‘The sandy area extending from North Sharqiyah to South Sharqiyah and Al Wusta governorate is considered a tourist area.’ 

The decision includes three areas: Shagat Mreekdh area (16,014,892sq m), Shagat Um Dhalmaa, Ghalfeedh and Tharmadeeah area (157,852,896sq m) and Shagat Shougab area (302,761,963sq m). 

The decision was issued  on December 11 and effective from the next day from the date of its publication in the official gazette.
