M&I forum in Muscat attracts 400 tourism organisations of the world

The international Meetings and Incentives (M&I) forum of business tourism started at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre on Tuesday.  

It is being organised by the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) in cooperation with an international company World Wide Events, and a number of partners from the Oman’s tourism sector. Around 400 tourism companies, establishments and organisations as well as hotels of various countries of the world are participating in the event.   

They include 210 companies of marketing and sales of business tourism sector, in addition to over 180 Omani tourism companies which specialise in hosting and providing business tourism services including those of international meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions. 

H E Maitha bint Saif al Mahrouqiyah, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Tourism, inaugurated the M&I forum and delivered a welcome speech in which she talked about the importance of the forum.  

A number of participants of the sector are present in the four-day forum and will learn about the tourism elements of the Sultanate of Oman, its capacity and preparedness to host various types of business tourism activities and events.  

The participating representatives of various Omani tourism sector organisations will get an opportunity to meet with their international counterparts and forge mechanisms for cooperation and enter into agreements to work together.  

The M&I forum started with meetings between companies, organisations and establishments specialised in the area of marketing and organising international business tourism events in the Middle East.  

The Ministry of Tourism has been organising the forum since 2006 in cooperation with the World Wide Events for which they do advance preparations and showcase products of various types for business tourism.
