The fifth edition of the Sas48 Challenge will begin at Omantel headquarters in Madinat al Irfan, on Thursday.
Organised by the Ministry of Technology and Communications (MTC) with the strategic partnership of Omantel, the competition concludes on Saturday.
In this edition, competitors have to design and develop their ideas into a prototype that could be a web or mobile application using the new emerging technologies.
This year’s challenge witnesses the participation of 104 competitors from colleges or universities, job seekers, employees and people interested in app development, web development or 4IR solutions.
This challenge aims to enhance the culture of entrepreneurship and encourage creative thinking in information and communication technologies (ICT).
The participants have been divided into 19 teams based on their specialisations. The initial ideas revolve around several solutions concerning different fields, including healthcare, financial, legal, agricultural, transportation, security, and events management. The Ministry of Technology and Communications was created by Royal Decree 63/2019.
MTC endeavours to consolidate and implement the Digital Oman strategy to transform the sultanate of Oman into a knowledge-based economy for the achievement of social and economic benefits to Omani society. MTC’s vision is ‘Transforming Oman, Empowering You’.
