Booklets to help blind tourists, guides in Oman

29 Sep 2019

The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) has printed around 500 booklets to assist blind and visually impaired travellers and tour guides.

The booklet was launched during an event held to mark World Tourism Day (September 27) in the presence of H E Ahmed bin Nasser bin Hamad al Mehrzi, and Raed al Farsi, vice president, Al Noor Association for the Blind.

Speaking to Muscat Daily, Farsi said, “The booklet in braille seeks to be an aid for blind foreign tourists travelling to the sultanate and for blind guides working in the field.

“The book will provide information about various landmark castles, forts and wadis in the country. MoT has printed five hundred copies in Arabic and English. A CD has also been launched,” he said. Talking about the association’s work, Farsi said, “The association provides care to about 500 blind people. Our initiatives are conducted to integrate blind people into society.”

The booklets were printed by MoT in cooperation with Al Noor Association for the Blind.
