Winners of Sultan Qaboos Award for Industrial Excellence honoured

Assigned by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed bin Nassir al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, on Sunday patronised over an honouring ceremony for winners of the Sultan Qaboos Award for Industrial Excellence 2017-18 at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The Sultan Qaboos Award for Industrial Excellence is organised every two years to recognise contributions to the development of Omani industry. The current edition included 19 industrial establishments.

The evaluation of industrial establishments focused on a range of criteria, including leadership, production process, manufacturing process, customer relationship, employee safety and the work environment, contribution to social responsibility and innovation in manufacturing processes, industrial and financial performance of the plant and marketing of the product.

Oman Fibre Optic Company won the Sultan Qaboos Award for Industrial Excellence 2017-18 for the category of companies with sales of RO10mn.

Oman Flour Mills won in the category of companies whose sales range between RO10mn and RO50mn while Oman Cement Company won the award for the category of companies with sales exceeding RO50mn.

Jindal Steel and Power Company won the award for the most innovative companies category.

The Minister of Education said that Omani industrial enterprises have received great attention from the government.

The Sultan Qaboos Award for Industrial Excellence comes as a tribute to industrial facilities, which proved their ability to compete in local, regional and international markets, which reflect the efficiency of the Omani industrial sector.

The ceremony was attended by their highnesses, ministers, undersecretaries, members of the State Council and Majlis A’Shura and officials concerned with the industrial sector in the public and private sectors, industrialists and businesspersons.
