Two-month Salalah Tourism Festival to begin on June 30

Dhofar Municipality has announced that the annual Salalah Tourism Festival will held from June 30 till August 31. To make it more attractive, the authority has added new activities like the Dhofar folklore and traditional handicrafts festival.

Preparations are also on to complete all pending road projects for better traffic movement during the three-month khareef season, which officially begins on June 21. H E Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan bin Hamoud al Busaidi, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar, held a meeting with the officials responsible for organising the festival at the Dhofar Municipality office recently.

H E Busaidi discussed various aspects of the preparations of Salalah Tourism Festival and the khareef season. The meeting was attended by H E Abdullah bin Aqeel al Ibrahim, Undersecretary in the minister’s office and acting deputy governor of Dhofar, and H E Sheikh Salim bin Awfeet al Shanfari, head of Dhofar Municipality and chairman of the festival's organising committee.

During the meeting, all preparations for the tourism season were discussed, in addition to the events that will be held at the Salalah Tourism Festival. H E Shanfari assured that all preparations have been completed. He also stated that some new activities have also been added to the festival calendar to showcase cultures of 15 countries.
