A source at the Directorate General said that the accused had visited an automobile showroom in Seeb on the pretext of buying a pre-owned 4WD vehicle.
“The accused went for a test ride accompanied by a showroom staff member. During the test ride, they stopped the vehicle at a shop and got a duplicate of the key made and later refused to buy the vehicle citing its high price.
“Two weeks later, the accused came back and expressed interest in buying the vehicle. The showroom owner said that the vehicle had been transferred to another showroom in Wattayah,” the source added.
“They drove away with the vehicle after locating it at a parking lot of the showroom in Wattayah. They were arrested on the expressway after some time as showroom staff had called ROP to file a complaint,” the source said.
