Success and faith in oneself are two sides of the same coin; if one is endowed with the power of faith, success is sure to come by. That was the underlining message of the speech delivered by Adil Taqi, CEO of Muriya, to the students of Asila bint Qais al Busaidi School, recently.
Addressing students on the values that one needs to uphold to attain success, Taqi made references to real-life success stories and experiences. He peppered the speech with his success mantra and provided hints and ideas on understanding the myriad facets of time, the concepts of time management and multi-tasking - key indicators of success in the life stories of people around the world.
The emphasis was on making optimum use of time so as to be equipped to handle challenges that life, invariably, throws at everyone. Students were encouraged to think of time as a partner in their pursuit of success and to digest the truth that time waits for none. Negative elements of wasted time were also brought to the fore and students were urged to value time and use it effectively to gain insights into their potential, and, accordingly, fix goals for life.
The speech also delved into the importance of extracurricular activities in the all-round development of students. They were exhorted to understand the significance of sports in not only their physical development but also mental development, so as to embrace virtues of discipline and sportsmanship and gain confidence in oneself.
The benefits of a healthy diet, especially during adolescent years, were also underscored.
The interactive session also saw students posing questions concerning career options, specialisations available, guidelines for success, etc. They also shared their opinions and ideas regarding higher education and their plans for the future. It was a stimulating exchange, one that the students enjoyed immensely.
Taqi concluded the speech with a brief description of his job and responsibilities at Muriya, and gave details of the Jebel Sifah and Salalah Beach projects, currently in various stages of completion.
The school’s career guidance specialist, Faiza Mohammed Abduladeem, said the objective was to create opportunities for students to learn from the experiences of successful people through a interactive medium like speeches. The speech paved the way for students to get a personal look at success, she said, adding that students were able to extract a lot of knowledge from the speech that was positive and easy to understand.
