Seminar by Literary Forum on history of Mirbat

The Literary Forum will organise a seminar titled Mirbat Throughout History as part of its annual cultural programme in Dhofar on September 26 and 27. The programme complements the national project to identify Omani cities and wilayats and explore their history and thier scientific, intellectual and civilisational achievements. During the seminar, working papers on intellectual and scientific life, historic statues, geography, archeological landmarks, heritage and renaissance era will be presented.

The working papers will be presented by Dr Abdullah bin Ali al Amri, Dr Ahmed bin Abdulrahman Balkhier, Dr Mohammed bin Said Draiby al Amri, Omar bin Abdullah Mahroos al Saiari and researchers Mohammed bin Mustahail al Shihri and Said bin Khalid al Amri. The wilayat of Mirbat was earlier a commercial marina, according to Arab and Islamic civilisation books.

The seminar comes as part of a programme under which 17 seminars on cities were held. The last one, in 2010, was titled Adam Throughout History.
