Those who died were two boys, one from class 4 and the other from class 5, and a girl from class 12, said a teacher at PSM.
Two other students, aged seven and 13, are still in a critical condition after undergoing surgery while two more students, who were seriously injured, have been placed under observation.
Over 20 children and the driver of the bus were discharged from hospital after basic treatment.
The surgeries on the two students who are in a critical condition were conducted at Khoula Hospital while many of the injured were treated at Al Nahdah Hospital.
As for the two seriously injured, aged ten and 14, sources at Khoula Hospital said their 'condition is stable'. “One had a wound on his face and the other sustained facial fractures,” sources said.
A senior official at the Pakistan Social Club told Muscat Daily that the accident, which took place at around 7.30am, happened when the bus hit the Muscat Municipality truck that was parked on the side of the road.
“There were 36 students in the mini bus, which was transporting students from M'abela to the school in Darsait,” the official said.
