Salehi welcomes talks with Oman

Yousef bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, and Ali Akbar Salehi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on Tuesday held a press conference in Tehran after concluding their round of talks.

At the press conference, Alawi highlighted the various developments in the region. He stressed on the importance of solving all crises and disputes through diplomatic means and finding a platform for peaceful dialogue among all parties, without tension or conflict. He said that it was important for countries to have dialogue with each other to solve any crisis.

Hailing the reciprocal visits between officials in Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran, Alawi said, “During the visit of the Iranian First Vice-President to Muscat, we agreed on the importance of expanding trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. We also studied the issue of exporting Iranian gas to the sultanate.”

Salehi highlighted the deep-rooted relations between the two countries, as well as the successful bilateral relations. “We very much welcome dialogue with officials in the sultanate,” he said.

The two ministers confirmed that a meeting of the joint economic committee of the two countries will be held in the coming months.
