Fareeq Asdiqaa A’Salam (peace friends voluntary team), is organising the event in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs.
The festival will be held at the Quriyat Fishing Harbour and feature many marine-related activities including boat and sea bike races, beach football, handball, volleyball and other competitions. It will also have activities for children such as face painting, colour painting and an art competition.
Addressing the media at a press conference on Tuesday, H E Saud bin Salim al Balushi, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Education and chairman of the organising committee of the festival, said, “The festival is expected to attract around 20,000 visitors and aims to showcase Oman’s rich maritime heritage and traditions.”
In a statement, H E Ahmed bin Nasser bin Hamad al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism, “The said event will help people to get acquainted with the cultural heritage of Omani society and promote tourism in a big way.”
