Importance of diabetes awareness emphasised

The Oman Diabetes Association (ODA), in collaboration with Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis, is urging Omanis to act on reducing the incidence of diabetes in the country by taking part in activities to raise awareness across the country.
Fifteen per cent of Oman’s population is living with the disease, according to a press release. In Muscat alone, over 17 per cent of the population has diabetes. Further, each hospital admission for a severe event of hypoglycaemia is estimated to cost around RO600.
