His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, presided over a military parade on Sunday at Sultan Qaboos Air Academy to mark the sultanate's 42nd National Day. Units from the Sultan's Armed Forces (SAF), Royal Guard of Oman (RGO) and Royal Oman Police (ROP) took part in the parade.
On his arrival at the parade ground, His Majesty the Sultan was received by H E Lt Gen Sultan bin Mohammed al Nuamani, Minister of Royal Office, H E Sayyid Badr bin Saud al Busaidi, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs, and other dignitaries.
After His Majesty the Sultan's ascension to the Royal Dais, the parade column gave the military salute and the Royal Anthem was played by the military parade band, while the artillery fired a 21-gun salute for His Majesty the Sultan. The joint military musical parade then began with the participation of SAF, RGO, ROP and Royal Court Affairs (RCA) personnel.
The columns of the Protocols Guard, represented by the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO), Royal Navy of Oman (RNO), RGO and ROP staged a military parade, saluting His Majesty the Sultan.
The Protocols Guard sang the military anthem, swearing allegiance to His Majesty the Sultan and wishing for His Majesty's long life. The Royal Anthem was then played and the Protocols Guard gave a military salute to His Majesty the Sultan signifying the conclusion of the parade.
The parade was attended by the chairmen of the State Council and Majlis A'Shura, ministers, advisors, commanders of the SAF, ROP and RGO, and other dignitaries.
