ESO will host 14 teams from companies across industry sectors in a bowling tournament, all registered and competing to become ‘Eco-Bowl’ champions, according to a press release. The teams include Asha Enterprise, Eye Candy, Port of Salalah, National Bank of Oman, Sohar Aluminium, Wolf Group of Companies, Oxy Oman, Enhance Oman, Bank of Beirut, Omanoil, Zubair Automotive Group, Services and Trade, Oman LNG and Merge FM.
As a non-governmental organisation, the funding that ESO receives is the lifeblood for the society’s work. From sponsorship of a research project to an annual donation, there are numerous ways to support the society and ensure that the good work it carries out continues. To this end, each year ESO holds fundraising events to encourage private sector companies to support its various research projects, studies and initiatives that it undertakes across Oman in the environmental conservation and protection field, the release added.
Currently the society has projects and initiatives underway including the HSBC Bank Oman frankincense research project, native tree-planting in Dhofar, turtle research and conservation, Renaissance whale and dolphin project, beach and reef clean-up at the Damaniyat islands and women’s environmental workshops as part of the Women’s Empowerment initiative.
Moreover, ESO held the first annual environmental public speaking competition for college students in cooperation with the Emirates Environmental Group recently.
