The man who stabbed his sister for wanting to marry a man of her choice was sentenced to 15 days in jail by the Saham Primary Court on Sunday. The court had changed the nature of the offence from one of inflicting grievous injury to that of a minor injury.
Said al Kalbani, the lawyer of the woman who was stabbed 15 times with a screwdriver, told Muscat Daily, “Although the verdict did not meet our expectations, what is important is that her brother was considered guilty and sentenced to jail.”
Only one witness out of three was present at the hearing and testified that the woman was coerced into withdrawing the complaint against her brother.
