“Construction of the hotel started in 2009. The official launch of the hotel is expected to be in February,” Richard Bamford, general manger, Best Western Premier Muscat, said.
“Presently, there are around 50 employees in the hotel. The number will climb up to over 100 by the end of January, and once we get busy the number may go up to 120 or 130,” Bamford said.
The hotel is owned by Murtadha Jaffer, chairman of First Global Hotels and Tourism. An official from the hotel said it will specialise in trying to create a relaxing experience for business travellers.
The hotel is a ten-minute drive from Muscat International Airport and is also at a convenient distance from the Ministries and Embassies Area, popular shopping malls, offices and tourist spots. It offers 24-hour staff availability and complimentary wireless Internet access.
The hotel has 203 rooms including suites and five banquet halls that can be used as conference rooms. It offers guests a professional and refreshing environment while keeping them connected to their homes and offices, an official said.
Most of the rooms provide a view of the city and the mountains.
All rooms have free high-speed Internet, complimentary tea and coffee facilities, LED TV and international direct dialing telephones with voice mail.
