U-Capital CEO speaks at Lamad Forum on Fintech at SQU

U-Capital chief executive officer Lo’ai Badie Bataineh recently participated in Lamad Forum on Financial Technologies (Fintech) at the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU). The event was organised by innovation and entrepreneurship department of SQU.

Bataineh shared his experience in the field of finance and how technology is revolutionising the financial sector of Oman as well as the GCC. Other panelists gracing the event included, H E Tahir bin Salim al Amri, executive president of the Central Bank of Oman, Dr Yahya al Wahaibi, dean of research at SQU and Ramez Dandan from Microsoft Gulf, to name a few.

Bataineh heads U-Capital, the prominent investment company in Oman. With assets under management and custody of over US$1.2bn, U-Capital is ranked amongst the top asset managers in Oman. Its corporate finance department has raised over US$6.6bn via IPOs, rights issues, private placements, collecting bank services and mergers and acquisitions.

The company’s brokerage unit was ranked number one in terms of market share as of 2017.
