Sultanate to invest $3bn in utility projects

Energy efficient strategies and projects will be discussed at the Oman Power & Water Summit 2012, from May 6-9 at the Grand Hyatt Muscat.

According to Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP), Oman represents one of the fastest growing power and water markets in the Middle East region with demand expected to grow an average nine per cent per year until 2017.

To meet demand, Oman will spend US$2.9bn in 13 new power, water and energy projects, which will begin construction in 2012, a press release said.
