Trading activity fell below the year-to-date average as a total of 1,225 trades were executed, generating a turnover of RO4.65mn while 19.96mn shares were exchanged over the counters.
Bank Sohar (+1.71 per cent at 179bz) continued to attract investor attention and topped the list with highest volume and turnover for the day. Market breadth stood in favour of decliners as of the 49 securities traded for the day 16 declined while 14 advanced 19 stocks closed unchanged.
The top gainers for the day were Bank Sohar, Oman Cables Industry (+1.06 per cent at RO1.33), A'Saffa Foods (+0.87 per cent at 580bz), Shell Oman Marketing (+0.84 per cent at RO2.40) and Ominvest (+0.80 per cent at 380bz) while the top losers for the day were Salalah Port Services (-2 per cent at 490bz), Gulf Investment Services (-1.98 per cent at 99bz), Oman & Emirates Investment (-1.89 per cent at 104bz), Al Hassan Engineering (-1.85 per cent at 159bz) and Bank Nizwa (-1.74 per cent at 113bz).
All the three sectoral indices closed in the green. The Financial sector index edged higher by 0.16 per cent supported by gains from Bank Sohar, Ominvest and BankDhofar (+0.54 per cent at 371bz). The Industrial sector index inched up 0.19 per cent backed by gains in Oman Cables and Oman Cement (+0.78 per cent at 650bz) while Services sector index closed flat.
