Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC) held the foundation stone laying ceremony of its new head office building at Airport Heights on Monday.
The event was graced by MEDC chief executive officer Abdullah bin Said al Badri. Badri laid the foundation stone of the multi-storey building spread over an area of 7000 sq m.
Members of the senior executive management of both MEDC and the construction company, Dawood Contracting, were among other invitees to the ceremony.
The recently signed contract for the construction of the new main office is worth RO1.5mn. The entire project is expected to cost nearly RO3mn, and takes into account the increase in MEDC's projected workforce in the coming five years.
The project is scheduled to be completed by January 2014.
