The Muscat Securities Market general index rallied for yet another day as fresh buying interest in banking and investment stocks propelled volumes.
The benchmark index edged up 0.41 per cent to close at 5,836.61.
Trading activity remained at par with Monday’s level as a total of 1,433 trades were executed, generating a turnover of RO5.17mn, while 19.95mn shares were exchanged over the counters. Market breadth stood in favour of advancer as of the 56 stocks traded for the day 17 advanced while 13 declined and 26 stocks closed unchanged.
The top gainers for the day were A'Saffa Foods (+4.00 per cent at 650bz), HSBC Bank Oman (+3.37 per cent at 184bz), Financial Services (+3.23 per cent at 64bz), Al Omaniya Financial Services (+2.85 per cent at 325bz) and BankDhofar (+1.85 per cent at 386bz) while the top losers were bank muscat CB7 (-2.13 per cent at RO1.15), United Power (-1.27 per cent at RO1.40), Al Jazeera Steel (-0.99 per cent at 300bz), Oman Fisheries (-0.94 per cent at 105bz) and alizz islamic bank (-0.89 per cent at 112bz).
