Muscat -

H E Yahya al Jabri, chairman of the Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm (Sezad), received on Tuesday H E Dimitris Silores, speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus, who is currently visiting Oman.

The meeting reviewed economic relations between Oman and Cyprus and their efforts to encourage businesses to form economic partnerships that contribute to enhancing trade exchange between the two countries, according to a press release issued by Sezad.

The meeting also touched on promotional campaign organised by Sezad in Cyprus in May, which helped inform the Cypriot business community about the investment opportunities in the sultanate, particularly the Special Economic Zone in Duqm (SEZD) and economic projects in Oman.

While affirming Oman’s keenness to attract foreign investment H E Jabri pointed out various incentives and facilities offered by SEZD such as tax exemptions, land usufruct for periods of up to 50 years, and provision of many services to investors through the one-stop shop to mention a few.

The Cypriot speaker H E Silores expressed his appreciation for the sultanate’s efforts to promote development in various fields and said that the mutual visits will enhance bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.
